The Stone and the Scars or: Let God work in your Life!
By Helen Jesze, 19th October 2018
The following is a prophecy which I gave when George and I were at an International Gospel Outreach conference recently. All the people there were pastors, evangelists, missionaries and Christian workers. Although in the first place it was for those present, yet I know that it is fitting for many of us in our Christian life at some time or another, so I feel led to share it with you today, and I would encourage you to let God do a new work in you, as you read!
“I saw in my spirit a large grey block of stone, not carved or worked on, but plain, without any design, and I was reminded how hundreds of years ago, the famous sculptor and artist Michel Angelo was seen dragging a large block of stone or marble into his studio. “What are you doing with that stone?” the people asked. “Oh,” replied Michel Angelo, “I see an angel in that stone! I see a Moses, or a David, or a Mary or an Esther! That’s not just a block of stone!”
And the Lord says you were just like that block of stone when I found you, with a heart of stone, nothing attractive, no design, but I am the Master Sculptor and I started to work on you with my hammer and my chisel to make something beautiful out of you, for I saw an angel in you, I saw a Moses, a David, a Mary, or an Esther who would be raised up for such a time as this.
But my design for you has changed, for a new chapter has been opened for you, and I have been working on you again, but you are worried and concerned. You are looking in dismay at the floor of your life and seeing all the chips and pieces that have flown off. You have been saying: Lord, why have you done this, why have you taken this out of my life now? Why have I lost this thing which was so precious?
And the Lord would say to you: Stop running around trying to pick up these pieces which have come off. You are trying to rebuild and reshape what has been in the Past, but that has gone. Turn your eyes now to the new thing I am doing in you, to the beautiful design which is coming to pass under my hands. Be still and let me work on you!
Then the scene changed and I saw in my spirit scabs, rough, purple, ridged scabs and scars which had formed over wounds. They even looked like purple caterpillars on the skin, about two inches long. Here the Lord would say: You have been wounded in Life and wounded in ministry, but you have pushed the pain down and just continued, trying to ignore this but the wounds have not healed properly. Then I saw the scabs break open and pus was coming out.
The Lord said when you just pushed the pain down, it was a dull throb from time to time, but now it seems those wounds have taken on a life of their own. The pain is sharp and you are wondering what is happening. It is because you have cried out to me: Lord, the time is short, the hour is urgent, Lord show me what is hindering in my life, give me a new revelation of yourself and your purposes for me!
And I am beginning to answer that prayer, for you can only move forward when these wounds are cleaned properly. I do not want to just heal you, I want to make you whole! In some wounds there are jagged thorns; in others, there are bullets, for you have been shot at, in the family, in Life, in your church, in your ministry. How foolish it would be when a soldier who has been shot does not go to have the bullet or the shrapnel removed, but just tries to keep on in the battle; he could lose an arm or leg, or even his life.
I want to cleanse every wound with my blood and with the oil of my Holy Spirit. I will pour in the oil and the wine, even as the Good Samaritan did to the man who fell among thieves, and some of my people have fallen among thieves, but I, the Lord, am the Great Restorer!
Therefore, be encouraged today, my son, my daughter, come to me anew, my arms are outstretched to you today to make you new and whole, for I love you and I will love you forever!”
