Songs of deliverance!

Songs of deliverance!

Songs of deliverance!

By Helen Jesze, 3rd March 2018

“For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. You surround me with songs of victory.”

Psalms 32, 7 New Living Translation

This morning I woke with the words of that beautiful song bubbling up in my spirit:

“You unravel me with a melody You surround me with a song Of deliverance from my enemies Till all my fears are gone.” Jonathan David & Melissa Helser

Imagine a ball of wool which has become all tangled. The cat has rolled it round the floor, having great fun, and now it seems the only remedy is to take a pair of scissors and cut through the mess, but then you would not have a length to work with, just lots of short pieces. So you get to work gently and patiently untangling, unravelling it, trying to find the right end to put through that loop, then it doubles back on itself and there’s another knot and off you go again, trying to find the clue and the way out.

But what does this song mean, that God surrounds us with “melody” and “song”? Psalm 32, 7 was written and sung by David the Shepherd Boy, later the King of Israel. Hounded by his enemy King Saul, fighting for his life, hiding in the caves and hills, many times he experienced those “songs of deliverance” working on his behalf. Here his prophetic side speaks out and he sees God singing into every difficult situation, for wherever the voice of God is heard deliverance and victory come, negative is turned to positive, grief is turned to joy. We often hear that God speaks but does he sing?

Yes, for in Zephaniah 3,17: “The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing”!

Here God is singing and rejoicing over His People, and He also has given us the gift of singing. This is not only to rejoice, praise and worship Him, but Holy Spirit anointed singing is also a weapon to defeat our enemy, satan, and his works. Several years ago, I was playing the piano and a group of friends were gathered round, all singing, praising the Lord. One of them was Hamish, a young airman, who was waiting for an operation on his knee, as it was very painful and hindered his military career.

The delivering anointing of the Spirit fell upon us and suddenly Hamish sprang up, shouting: “I’ve been healed! I heard a click in my knee and the pain’s gone!” Nobody had prayed for him, but the power of the Lord was present to heal because of the delivering anointing!

I want to encourage you today to see in your spirit God singing songs of deliverance around you, surrounding you and any difficult situation, breaking strongholds in the spirit world, vanquishing your enemies and fears, until every one is conquered. Whether you are walking the floor with that sick child in your arms, wrestling with traffic jams and decisions you have to make, or despairing that the money will ever come in for those bills …begin to sing out in faith songs of deliverance and know that your God is unravelling those knots, surrounding you with answers .

This deliverance will not be just on one side and the rest of you is open to the enemy; it will surround you, hide you in victory. You will see the child’s fever break, the traffic will suddenly move on and you will see the answers you need so desperately, God’s provision will break forth on you, fear will lose its grip. The song also goes on to say:

Bird

“I’m no longer a slave to fear I am a child of God!”

Prayer: Heavenly Father, in my spirit I hear you sing out songs of deliverance in my situation! You are surrounding me in this need today! I see knots unravelling, answers coming, breakthroughs, fear broken over my life, for you have brought me out of its slavery – I am your child, for now and all eternity! I give you praise and worship you! Amen.
