A Merry Heart!!
By Helen Jesze, 24th February 2023
“A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.”
Proverbs 17:22 KJV
Have you heard of that powerful international ministry some people have? It’s called – the Ministry of Discouragement! And the devil sees to it that it never dies out!
We are told that when we smile we use 14 muscles in our face, and when we frown we use 72. So let’s smile and be an energy-saver!
Has your God gone into recession? Can you imagine Jesus saying: Father, what are we going to do? We’ll have to sell the pearly gates!
Have you had a pity-party lately? Elijah had one but his only problem was, he didn’t have at least one spectator. We lap up self-pity, you know like if somebody says: O Sister Jones, you look so pale tonight! And it sort of does you good!
When God brings two people together, one is fiery and the other is cool. If both were fiery, you’d have a smashing time, flying saucers in the kitchen!
Some of you are no longer an amateur worrier but a professional. Let God at least degrade you to an amateur-status, but better still, right out of the worry business altogether!
Some people are afraid of spiders. I’ve got good news for you – the spider is more afraid of you! You’re a giant in his eyes! And if you only knew it, the devil is more afraid of you than you are of him, because of Jesus in you!
Are you a worrier or a warrior?! One letter which makes such a difference!
A man said to me he and his wife had been married for 50 years and had never had a cross word! I replied, Brother, what are you doing here? You should already be walking the golden streets – you’re so perfect!
We’re always blaming someone else for our mistakes. Do you know where we got that from? First Adam said, It’s not me, Lord, it was the woman you gave me! Then Eve said to the serpent, It’s your fault – and the trouble was the serpent had no-one else to blame!
Don’t cry over split milk – get up and catch the cow! She’s got some more!
The greatest distance is not from the earth to the moon, but from the head to the heart, what we know in theory before it gets down into our spirit.
There should be a health warning: “Worry is detrimental to your health; it can even kill you.” signed The Creator
God’s medicine has no bad side-effects.
If we could re-educate the bull to know who his real enemy is – the matador not the cloak he’s holding — bull-fighting days would soon be over! And if Christians would realise their real enemy is the devil and not their Brother or Sister in Christ, they would stop fighting each other.
Take your eyes off the problems and put them on His promises!
Perhaps we should make a bumper-sticker: Have you blessed your stinker today?! Or don’t you have any? I’ve got a few! But God says “Forgive!”
The bed is a very dangerous place. More people die in bed than on the roads!
It’s getting more expensive to live and more expensive to die. You can’t afford a funeral yet, so keep on living!
Why did Moses have to spend 40 years in the wilderness? Because God couldn’t prepare him in 39! It’s not how long we’ve been in God’s school, it’s what we’ve learned!
We could rent Wembley Stadium for an International Christian Worry Olympics. Some of us would stand a good chance of getting a gold-medal every time!
Some people are wondering if the government will have enough money to pay their old-age pension. The way you’re carrying on, you won’t need a pension at all! You’ll have worried yourself into your grave. What a waste of good money!
The storms of Life don’t send you a postcard to tell you they’re coming!
Forgiveness is like a boomerang; send it out and it’ll come back to you.
It’s OK to have a problem, but it’s KO if the problem has you!
Some people are waiting for their ship to come home, but they haven’t sent it out yet!
When the devil took everything from Job, he left him his wife. It was the straw that broke the camel’s back when she said: Curse God and die!
One of the blessings of being married is you’ve always got someone to blame!
If Jesus said to Peter after he had walked on the water “man of little faith”, what would he say to us?!
Some people you’d like to hold a little longer under the water when they’re being baptised, so the ‘old man’ really dies!
