In the bustle and celebrations of Christmas it is easy to forget that Jesus is the Reason for the Season. The following really makes you think:
A harassed mother with 2 small children and her arms full of parcels and bags pushed into the almost full lift of a department store. In a loud, exasperated voice she blurted out to the lift occupants:
“I don’t know why we do this every year! It’s nothing but stress and worry every time! The person who invented Christmas should be shot!”
Then quickly a voice from the back called out: “Haven’t you heard? They did get rid of Him, they crucified Him!”
That certainly made them all think! Yes, we celebrate Jesus’ coming to Earth, and we know He came to die. It’s not the Babe in the manger who saves us, but the Son of Man/Son of God who died and rose again.
George and I wish you a joyful, peaceful Christmas with family and friends. And if you will be on your own with just memories for company, or if you are grieving over the loss of a loved one or over bad news, may the Lord encourage and strengthen you at this time, give you the knowledge that He does have a future and good plans for you, that you are not forgotten!
