What a momentous day it’s been, as we watched Megan Markle marry Prince Harry in St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle – on television, of course! A crowd of 100,000 gathered to see the processions, join in the fun and later catch a glimpse of the happy couple as they drove by in an open Landau drawn by Windsor Grey horses. A young American woman of mixed race, some of whose ancestors had been slaves, now marries into the British Royal Family! How amazing, yet how much more amazing when we think that not only our ancestors but we, ourselves, used to be slaves of sin and satan, and we were set free by our heavenly Bridegroom Himself, who bought us with the price of His blood! One day we will join Him at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb, in a far more wonderful place than Windsor castle, splendid though it is! So Congratulations, Harry and Megan, we wish you long life and happiness!
And what a week it’s been! Historically, prophetically, spiritually this has been a momentous week in the history of the world, and on God’s calendar!
Monday, we celebrated the nation of Israel’s 70th Anniversary, for seventy years ago on 14th May 1948, the nation of modern Israel declared its independence and founding after thousands of years! Within hours, it was attacked by Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq. Arab forces swarmed over this tiny new nation’s borders — from the North, the East, and the South. They were equipped with tanks, artillery, mortars, machine guns, and endless supplies of ammunition, with Egypt, Syria, and Iraq also having warplanes. Israel’s defence forces were scattered militia groups armed with rifles and handguns. But God was with them, giving them victory! Since then they have won every war they have been engaged in, most notably the Six Day War and the Yom Kippur War!
Israel, which gave us our Saviour, Jesus Christ, our Bible, the nation which God chose and with whom He made His Covenant, into which ‘root’, we as followers of Jeshua have been grafted, we say to them: “Israel, we congratulate you! You will not be thrown into the sea, you will remain! May God protect you and lead you into His perfect plan in these end-times!”
Monday also saw the moving of the American Embassy to Jerusalem. After President Trump, knowing that much of the world would be enraged, courageously acknowledged that historically and biblically, Jerusalem was Israel’s capital city, and made good his promise to move the embassy. We say to him and his administration: Congratulations, President Trump, thank you for doing this!
Guatemala followed with also moving their embassy to Jerusalem and next week, Paraguay will do the same. Other countries are also talking of doing this. Whatever political motive they may have, nevertheless, it still gives Israel new strength and credibility.
Israel is now celebrating their Feast of Shavuot, which we call Pentecost, when we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit to dwell on Earth in the heart of every Believer. There in Jerusalem, as the 120 waited on the Lord He descended with tongues of fire, filling them with power, giving them the ability to speak in other tongues and glorify God, and be His witnesses. So on this Saturday evening of Pentecost weekend, I send you all a greeting and wish you a wonderful joy-filled day tomorrow! Let’s open our hearts anew to the Holy Spirit, that He might send a fresh anointing upon us!
