Dear Devotionalsjust4u!! Friends,
Several years ago, my husband, George, was In Israel, interpreting for a Prophetic Conference. He had very little time to see all the important Biblical sites, but he did go to the hill of Calvary where Jesus was crucified for us. But what a shock! Now there was a bus-station and a street-market, with people shouting, vehicles being driven in and out and animals pushing around — nothing like you would have imagined this holy place to be.
This was George’s first time there and as it was Easter time, he also went to see the Garden Tomb on Easter Sunday, only to find it closed!! You would have thought that this was the main day of the year when this tourist attraction would have been open! Many pilgrims and holiday-makers were disappointed that they could not look in and see the place where we are told that Jesus’ body was laid.
You and I may never have been to Israel to see these Places of Remembrance, yet nevertheless, in spirit, every one of us can go up the hill of Calvary and, like Pilgrim in The Pilgrim’s Progress, the burden of sin can fall off our back as we gaze at the One on the middle cross — JESUS CHRIST, the Son of the Living God!
We may not see the Garden Tomb, but through the reality of His life within us, we KNOW, without a shadow of a doubt, that he is ALIVE TODAY!
Today I am sending you a beautiful slideshow of our Lord’s death and resurrection! Click here to download
I wish you a joyful Easter as you celebrate what Jesus has done for you and for the whole world!
United in His love,
Helen Jesze
