FOUNDED ON THE ROCK!

“So everyone who hears these sayings of mine and acts upon them (obeying them) will be like a sensible (prudent, practical, wise) man who built his house upon a rock, And the rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had been founded upon the rock.”

Matt.7:24-25 Ampl. Bible

One day we were sitting in our living room. Two birds were flying to and fro past the window, and seemed to be very busy with something. The day after, I went into the garden and saw pieces of straw and twigs strewn on the ground near that window. A broom stood leaning on the wall of the house, and this was smeared with egg yolk and broken pieces of egg-shell. I looked up and saw the reason. A lonely dove was sitting on our satellite dish, looking down at me with gleaming, unblinking eyes. Some bits of straw were still under her feet; it was clear what had happened: The dove had built her nest on the precarious dish and even laid an egg, but the nest fell down and the precious egg was broken.

It was another lesson for us as people. Where are we building our nest today? On just any old foundation, or on the firm foundation of the Word of God?! Many countries are at war, millions are displaced and suffer tremendous hardships; politicians and economists do not know where to turn for answers, but the Bible says we should look up to the Lord when we see these things come to pass, for he is the only One who has the answer.

He is the Victor of Calvary, risen from the grave, living today to bring his children through all dark times, if we will build our life on him and the eternal truths of his Word, and obey them, then our house will stand in every storm!
