It’s Time to Celebrate!!

It’s Time to Celebrate!!

Somebody once said to me, you often don’t feel so sad at first because there are many things to do and see to, after the death of a loved one, but you feel it later, and I think this has been happening with me, for I have been missing George a lot and the house seemed very empty. I had been sorting through his clothes, keeping some and preparing others to give away, and that did not help either! There were also some prayer needs which lay heavy on my heart at that time.

So as I pulled up the window blind next morning, I was not feeling too good, also because of a physical problem I have at the moment, which kept me awake till nearly 4 am with the pain. As I glanced through the kitchen window, I saw something bobbing up and down in the front garden. Then it would die down, only to rise up again, dancing and blowing merrily in the wind! Three big party balloons – two pink and silver ones in the shape of a heart, and a golden one in the shape of a star! These had not been there the night before but must have blown in from somewhere!

It was as though the Lord was saying to me: “It’s not the time to be down or depressed! It’s time to celebrate, for your Lord is still on the throne, and nothing has ever surprised me. I know your end from the beginning, and see just where you are, and I have done all things well! Dance and rejoice before me, for in the spirit-world I am working on the answers you need, and you will see them manifested! Give thanks and praise, you are a victor not a victim!”

As I watched the balloons dance and leap, it reminded me of the story in Acts 3, 8b. Peter and John had healed a lame man in the Name of Jesus. Immediately he sprang up and went into the Temple with them, “walking and leaping and praising God”. And what do you think was in my Bible reading that morning? Yes, Acts 3! The Lord knows how to get our attention!

One hour later, the balloons had blown away, but they had done their work! They could have blown into anybody’s garden, but I believe the Lord directed them into my garden, saying, “Holy Spirit, Helen needs a lift today! You know what to do!”

David, the Psalmist had much to cause him to be downcast. Anointed to be king over Judah and Israel when just a teenager, yet for years he had to live like a fugitive, running from the rage and hate of back slidden king Saul. Several times he had the opportunity to kill Saul and take his rightful place as king, yet he would not allow bitterness, anger and revenge to fill his heart, believing that God would avenge him in His time, and that he must “not touch the Lord’s anointed”.

But until David reached that place of believing, there were struggles with despondency, questioning and impatience, and when he wrote the above psalm, that must have been one of those times. In many psalms he speaks of his struggles, but he always bursts through to victory and gives us the answer, telling us to hope in and give praise to God, for He is our great Helper, who will not let His People down!

So be encouraged today, my friend, whether you have any balloons blow into your garden or not, this message is still for you! Perhaps you need to speak to your soul, your inner self, like David did here, reminding yourself and the unseen world that GOD IS YOUR HELPER, and it’s time to celebrate in advance the great victories He is bringing to you!

Prayer: Thank you for reminding us today, Heavenly Father, of your constant care and love to your children. Nothing escapes your watchful eye. Your care is round us like the mountains around your city of Zion! Teach us to cast off despondency and celebrate your victory, procured for us on the cross of Calvary, so long ago, but just as real TODAY! Let tears be dried right now, let drooping heads be lifted up, let sadness depart in the Name of Jesus, we pray, Amen!
