O​ Lord, you’re so much greater than anything I could imagine!
My mind struggles to grasp your truth, but it slips away
just when I think I understand.

Slipping away because you cannot be held by human reasoning,
Constantly expanding and developing

Like a road which shows a long new stretch, as I round a bend.
Instead of coming to an end or completion, new sights, new vistas open up.
So is your truth, so is yourself.

You are like a diamond with many facets, sparkling, scintillating
Catching the light, brilliant –­­ your beauty is indescribable.

And though I should search all the world through, I could never
find another like you – My precious Lord.

A​s I considered your worth, Lord Jesus​,
And whispered aloud how precious you are to me,

A whisper returned, like an echo –
How precious ​you ​are to ​me!

How wonderful that you find me precious,
That you keep me as the apple of your eye
To be guarded and hidden in a secret place.

A precious thing that you take out
And admire, caress and cherish –
Then again you hide me, close to your heart.

I was like a stone at the side of Life’s path,
When you came along and saw me.

You picked me up, turning me over in your hand.
Placing me in your ‘bag’ of love, you carried me home.

You took me into your workshop, got out your tools
And began to cut and clean this stone.

A plan was designed specifically for me –
You are shaping me accordingly.

When others would have kicked me aside
You chose to put your worth into me.

As you shine on me, I begin to shine and sparkle

Reflecting the colours of your beauty,
For you’ve made me a diamond, Jesus,

And a diamond is for Love –

And a diamond is ​forever!
